LOST WORDS

She came with lost words in an hourglass of sand

She came to mark her stand, claim her stake, build her state

But now her voice is silenced

She stampeded through waves

Of disconsolate thoughts, glances and storms

She sailed the ship, moored it to this rock

The sails lie flat and freed, retired dragons, lost without a breeze

The sand slips, the water spills and the words stand dissolved

The cacophony is quiet, too far away

The sounds cut off, quarantined in other time zones

But invisible threads

Bind, pull, tether and tear at her heart

She has travelled long on Tragedy’s wave

Stolen Sorrow’s grace

Won the impossible race

And yet, She stands here, in this place

Where She knows reclines the existence of an impossible dream

She implores for mercy now, the mercy to be sanctified again

With the courage to believe
